Browsers Can Extend Laptop Battery Life

The image above says it all, with a proper browser you can save precious battery life on your laptop. The best performer Internet Explorer 8 outlasted 34minute longer than the worst performer Safari 4.

Big surprise was that IE8 came in better than Firefox with adblock installed by 7 minute. However if your doing some intensive browsing on your laptop Firefox would still come out on top as you might find due to its superior page loading speed over IE8 which might save you a good 10-15 minute.

Opera 10 Officially Released

Opera 10 Released

Great news!! Opera 10 has being made available for download to the public today (already got mine), just two days after I last blogged about opera 10 RC2 obviously I was very late to cover that news.

Directly from the opera press release, three major things you must try out in Opera 10.

  1. Opera Turbo – A new compression technology that speeds up your page loading time significantly.
  2. Sleek and Beautiful new user interface.
  3. Better tabs! – you now can resize your tabs, place them on all four side of the browser and the plain old tab is now automatically generated page thumbnails. (yay! who doesn’t love tab? check out how to add tabs to Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint)

All I can say about Opera is WOW for coming up with these cutting edge technology, but the market share does not do them justice. Perhaps 2009-2010 is their year, perhaps Opera 10 is the breakthrough they needed.

Opera 10 Release Candidate 2

 Opera 10 Release Candidate

A  few ago Opera 10 Release Candidate 2 was released. Due to my busy uni schedule, I didn’t really cover it here on SlashNow. But today I installed opera 10 in my window 7 and I have to say I am very impressed at how Opera has turned out.

Compared to the previous release candidate, Opera RC 2 comes with with fixes that improves the stability and speed.  Other fixes includes skin and importing of widgets from previous opera versions. Note that this is a release candidate and its not the official release so it may or may not cause of some problems on your system.
